The Roger Ivol Memorial Award

The Roger Ivol Memorial Award is the most prestigious award presented by Ostomy Hamilton. It will be awarded to a member of the association that has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service for the benefit of Ostomy Hamilton, its members, and the ostomy community.

This award will be Ostomy Hamilton’s contribution to honouring Roger Ivol’s legacy.

Roger Ivol became a member of Ostomy Hamilton in the 1980’s after having ostomy surgery due to Ulcerative Colitis. He quickly became involved and served on the board of directors of Ostomy Hamilton in many capacities. Roger was instrumental in setting up a successful visitor program and many outreach services including the training of local PSW and Nursing students on basic ostomy care. He tirelessly worked hard to locate and fundraise to send hundreds of children from Southwestern Ontario to the Ostomy Canada Youth Camp. Roger was also active with Ostomy Canada, serving on its board and was the founding editor of the Ostomy Canada Magazine. His passion and commitment to Ostomy Hamilton, its members, and the ostomy community was outstanding and inspiring to many ostomates. He was a great man, a great mentor, and a great friend to many.
